Neumann TLM-103 Audio Samples

This a short sample of a song consisting of piano and vocal, written and performed by Suzan Stroud titled "Waiting".

The signal path for the vocal consisted of the TLM-103 into a Peavey VMP-2 transformer based tube preamp into an Empirical Labs EL-8 Distressor to analog tape. The Distressor was set to 6:1 with the "Dist 2" 2nd harmonic distortion generator engaged. Suzan was approximately four inches away from the TLM-103, singing directly into it.

In the final the mix, a small EQ dip centered around 4KHz was applied to the vocal as well as 2 db boost at around 16KHz using an Orban 622B. A chamber reverb from the Lexicon MPX-1 was also added. A second sample of the soloed vocal without any EQ or reverb is also available. Both files were converted using a Symetrix 620 20 bit A/D converter - noise shaped and dithered to 16 bits.

Full Mix
1.3 MB/stereo/44.1KHz/16 bit WAV file

Vocal only - no EQ or reverb
475K/mono/44.1KHz/16 bit WAV file

These are full fidelity, 44.1KHz/16 bit files so in order to keep the download times reasonable, the samples had to be kept short. If you are using Netscape, press option/alt when clicking on the link to have the file saved to your hard drive.
